Goedhuis, January 2014
Deep opaque colour, with the intoxicating Morello cherry aromas so typical of this village in the very north of the Côte de Nuits. This has a lovely feeling of opulence and depth, with rounded full tannins and a very long wild berry fruit finish.
Burghound, January 2014,
This offers a step up in aromatic elegance with its spice and fresh dark raspberry liqueur, earth and black cherry scents. There is good volume and mid-palate concentration to the suave yet attractively detailed flavors that possess a touch of austerity on the balanced and solidly persistent mineral-inflected finish. Drink 2018+
Domaine Charles Audoin
Charles’s son Cyril has for years been instrumental in raising the quality and the reputation of the Marsannay appellation. With his new cellar now fully operational, he can realise the full potential of his excellent fruit grown in this underrated appellation. This domaine offers terrific consistency and excellent value for money in the northern Côte de Nuits.
The most northerly appellation of the Cote d'Or, Marsannay is also the only appellation authorised to produce red, white and rose wine. Only created in 1987, this is an interesting area where quality is improving. Top producers include Bruno Clair, Meo-Camuzet and Denis Mortet.
