Goedhuis, January 2014
Although a little closed at the time of tasting, this is a wine of huge potential and natural breeding. There is great texture and real feeling of layered fruit but as with all wines for the longer term, it just feels a bit reserved at the moment.

Neal Martin, December 2013, Score: 89-91
The 2012 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a very attractive bouquet with lively redcurrant and raspberry coulis scents emerging from the glass. The palate has a fresh, taut entry with fine, slightly brittle tannins. There is unquestionably commendable focus here, a little masculine with a linear finish, overall a "serious" grand cru that perhaps needs to show more charm.

Burghound, April 2014, Score: 91-93
There is a touch of residual fermentation aromas, in particular a lactic element that pushes the fruit to the background. The big, rich and surprisingly powerful medium-bodied flavors possess good size and weight, especially in the context of the appellation, before terminating in a delicious, persistent and well-balanced finish. This is certainly very pretty but it doesn't have the sheer depth of the best in the range.

Jancis Robinson, January 2014, Score: 18
Very sweet, round and rich with red cherry flavours – lots of energy. Suddenly finishes but pretty snazzy overall. Slightly sudden finish. Drink 2020-2035

A Bourguignon through and through, Nicolas’ unrivalled local network of thoroughly reliable grower-suppliers allows him to source fruit from the most sought-after parcels in the Côte. He also produces a selection of domaine wines (under Domaine de Bellene). The emphasis remains to this day on well-sited venerable vines and viticulture and the Maison Roche de Bellene label is the superlative source of attractive, well-priced Burgundy wines. Nicolas chose the name ‘Bellene' in honour of the ancient Roman name for Beaune.Read less

Bonnes Mares
Perched between Morey-St-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny in the heart of the Cotes de Nuits this Grand Cru appellation can balance the best characteristics of both. Bonnes Mares wines combine fragrance and femininity with body and power. A seductive combination indeed.
