Tasting Notes
-
Burghound, January 2013,
Score: 92-95A remarkably, and most attractively, cool and restrained nose of various red berries, spice and a beautiful array of floral elements complements well the rich and equally cool mineral-tinged big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors that possess a really lovely sense of underlying tension on the clean and pure finish that delivers strikingly good length. This is also clean and firm but with slightly better phenolic maturity to the supporting structural elements which should allow this beauty to age successfully for many years to come.Drink: 2026+
Producer
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé

This domaine can trace its history back over 500 years. It has been in the hands of the same family which is now in its 20th generation.George's grand-daughters Clare de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette are the family members presently involved.Currently the wine is overseen by Francois Millet as winemaker and Eric Bourgogne as chef de vignes. The vineyards spread to 12.5 hectares. They, amazingly, adapt their techniques depending on the conditions of the particular vintage, and rather disparage those who have a single "best" technique every year. This, hopefully, allows a purer expression of the raw material and vintage.
Region
Le Musigny
Le Musigny is a red Grand Cru vineyard based in Burgundy’s Chambolle Musigny village in the Côte de Nuits. Le Musigny is situated between the scrubland at the top of the slope and the upper section of Clos de Vougeot on well-draining limestone soil. The wines of Le Musigny are some of the best in Burgundy on a par with those of Romanée Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
