Tasting Notes
-
Burghound, January 2015,
Score: 93Here the moderately oaky nose is similar to that of the Charmes but in this case there is notably more sauvage character. The suave, cool and distinctly ripe large-scaled flavors possess plenty of muscle as well as fine richness that is enhanced by the abundance of palate coating dry extract that pushes the firm tannins to the background on the saline-inflected finish. This is a brooding Mazis packed with upside development potential though note that it will require 12 to 15 years for it to reach its full majority. 93 points.
Producer
Duport Tisserandot

Region
Côte de Nuits-Villages
This communal appellation covers the vineyards of Fixin, Brochon, Premeaux, Comblanchien, and Corgoloin. Spread along the length of the Cotes de Nuits the wines of the different communes are, unsurprisingly, varied, reflecting a range of different exposures and nuances of soild type. The vast majority of production is red, with just a smattering of Chardonnay grown. The reds can offer very good value from the better producers.
