Tasting Notes
-
Goedhuis, December 2012
A powerfully structured Marsannay with tightly knit tannins. This naturally masculine feel is softened by the appealing whole bunch pressed wild strawberry flavours. This finishes very long and with lots of class.

Burghound, January 2013,
Score: 89-92This is aromatically similar to the Clos du Roy except perhaps that it is noticeably more perfumed. There is really lovely detail and precision to the vibrant, complex and saline middle weight flavors that possess more minerality on the balanced and strikingly persistent finish. This is a really pretty effort and worth a look. (89-92)/2018+

Producer
Domaine Charles Audoin

Charles’s son Cyril has for years been instrumental in raising the quality and the reputation of the Marsannay appellation. With his new cellar now fully operational, he can realise the full potential of his excellent fruit grown in this underrated appellation. This domaine offers terrific consistency and excellent value for money in the northern Côte de Nuits.
Region
Marsannay
The most northerly appellation of the Cote d'Or, Marsannay is also the only appellation authorised to produce red, white and rose wine. Only created in 1987, this is an interesting area where quality is improving. Top producers include Bruno Clair, Meo-Camuzet and Denis Mortet.
