Tasting Notes
-
Burghound, Ap[ril 2015,
Score: 91-93There is enough reduction to render evaluating the nose impossible. By contrast there is good freshness and verve to the refined, indeed almost delicate flavors that possess a suave and very round mouth feel, all wrapped in a delicious and palate coating finish. This is quite understated and while it may develop the same depth as the best here, for the moment it doesn't have it nor does it appear to have quite the same level of underlying material. That said, it is certainly a lovely effort and I particularly like the fine balance. Drink 2021+
Producer
Benjamin Leroux

Following fifteen years as winemaker at Comte Armand, Benjamin Leroux is now amongst an elite band of specialist micro-négociants setting up in the Côte D’Or. Based in Beaune, Benjamin uses his network of contacts to source only the very best fruit and, where he has contracts, likes to advise on vineyard practices to make sure that the raw material is of the highest quality. He makes wines from a broad and diverse selection of appellations, but all show a true connection to their origins.
Region
Côte de Nuits-Villages
This communal appellation covers the vineyards of Fixin, Brochon, Premeaux, Comblanchien, and Corgoloin. Spread along the length of the Cotes de Nuits the wines of the different communes are, unsurprisingly, varied, reflecting a range of different exposures and nuances of soild type. The vast majority of production is red, with just a smattering of Chardonnay grown. The reds can offer very good value from the better producers.
