Goedhuis, December 2012
Deep opaque colour, this has the breadth and fullness of fruit that all fine Grand Cru should have. A deliciously ripe style with lots of charm and a strong spicy finish.

Burghound, January 2013, Score: 93
(from 50+ year old vines). This is brooding and still very backward and only aggressive swirlingliberates the fresh and ripe aromas of red berry fruit liqueur, cassis and warm earth. The big, bold and muscular broadshouldered flavors possess plenty of mouth coating dry extract that helps to buffer the very firm tannins before terminating in a gorgeously long, balanced and complex finish. Excellent potential here. Drink 2021+

Taking its name from founders Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot back in 1954, this domaine has grown from 7 to 22 hectares under the direction of their son Vincent Geantet and his children Fabien and Emilie. Having outgrown their historical cellars, they invested in a new winery, and their wines show all the advantages that this additional space provides. Traditionally, they de-stem 100% of their fruit and allow the must a few days of cool maceration prior to fermentation starting, which enhances the colour and aromatic content of their wines. Through a combination of old vines (plenty of centenaries in their vineyards), sumptuous fruit concentration and generous new oak they make a hedonistic style of Burgundy.Read less

Charmes Chambertin
Charmes-Chambertin is one of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. On gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north, gravelly soil forces the vines to work hard. Relatively large for a Grand Cru appellation, it is hard to generalise about the wines. Often intensely perfumed and seductive, Charmes-Chambertin can be approachable earlier than its Grand Crus neighbours.
