Goedhuis, December 2012
Rightly considered the senior statesman of the Grand Crus in Gevrey along with Le Chambertin. This is a hugely stylish wine, with great levels of finesse. Yet it remains succulent and the fruit texture coats the mouth. An exquisite style defining the higher echelons that the best Grand Crus achieve.

Burghound, January 2013, Score: 92-95
(from a parcel of 1.5 ha of vines planted in 1949). An extraordinarily spicy and complex nose evidences cool, fresh and admirably pure aromas of cassis, red berries and plum. There is a floral note on the remarkably rich, concentrated and extract-rich flavors that really coat the palate on the dusty, long and impressively deep finish. A classic Bèze and well worth considering. 92-95)/2023+

Jancis Robinson
Bright cherry red. By a stretch the best 2011 from this domaine. The wine seems reasonably in balance. Dry finish. But there is enough fruit. Drink 2016-2028

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Chambertin Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
