Tasting Notes

  • BURG

    Burghound, January 2013,
    Score: 92-94

This is wonderfully complex and nuanced with a variety of spice and earth notes present on the dried rose petal, violet, red currant and plum suffused nose. There is a silky palate impression to the mid-palate but this doesn't lack for punch or muscle on the large-scaled and tautly muscular flavors that terminate in a splendidly persistent, balanced and altogether serious finish. Good stuff here and this might catch the Chambertin with age though note that this will need at least 10 to 12 years in the cellar and 15 would not surprise me. Drink 2022+

Region

Bonnes Mares

Perched between Morey-St-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny in the heart of the Cotes de Nuits this Grand Cru appellation can balance the best characteristics of both. Bonnes Mares wines combine fragrance and femininity with body and power. A seductive combination indeed.
