Tasting Notes
-
Burghound,
Score: 93 / 100A softly expressive nose combines notes of pear, apple, spice and cool citrus nuances. There is impressive size, weight and volume to the big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration along with huge length on the palate drenching finish. This is terrific though note that it will need all of a decade to express its full, and considerable, potential. Drink 2021+
Producer
Domaine Marc Colin

One of our favourite Burgundy estates, Domaine Marc Colin produces year-in and year-out, some of the most balanced, expressive wines in the Côte de Beaune. Their strict principles of using only natural yeast, having a slow, cool fermentation and little ‘débourbage' (draining the juice fromits sediment) contributes to their pure, fresh flavours and impeccable balance. The domaine is now run by brothers Pierre-Yves, Damien and Joseph who took over from their semi-retired father several years back. The "changing of the guard" has had little effect on the wines. The only notable difference is less stirring of the lees in order to retain the wines' mineral undertones. And as aresult, they are as delicious and sincere as ever.
Region
Bâtard Montrachet
Bâtard-Montrachet is a great white Grand Cru in Burgundy's Côte D'or. Its vineyards are located onthe slope beneath Le Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune. Bâtard-Montrachet's soils are heavier than those surrounding it, made up of brown limestone and gravel, which pave the way for rich, nutty, honeyed and heady wines with good structure. They are not as elegant as those from Chevalier-Montrachet and are broader and weightier than wines from Montrachet.
