Goedhuis, December 2011
A classical Vosne Romanée highlighting why the vintage has been such a huge success for the appellation as a whole. Clear, crisp red fruit flavours, with a rounded and full mouth feel. The tannins provide additional structure to make a very complete and totally balanced wine.

Burghound, January 2012, Score: 89-92
A gentle application of oak melds with spicy, airy, notably cool and refined aromas of black pinot fruit and plum that are in keeping with the rich, delicious and sophisticated medium-bodied flavors that possess very fine tannins while culminating in a beautifully balanced, complex and lingering finish. This is an outstanding villages. 2016+Comments: outstanding top value!

Jancis Robinson, January 2012, Score: 16.5
Four parcels, not the best placed – just below La Colombière by Anne Gros' cuverie. Lots ofbeguiling fruit here. Good flesh and structure. So easy to like even if not the purest. Drink 2014-2020

Sylvain Cathiard is one of the top growers in Vosne Romanée, a region not shy of exceptional talent. He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less

Region
Vosne Romanée
The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
