Goedhuis, August 2016
Hailing from Tuscany, this follows the Super Tuscan format, being a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in equal measures. The 2010 is a firmly structured wine brimming with blackberry, blackcurrant, herb and tar aromas with tobacco, cedar, and vanilla notes. The palate is tense with firm ripe tannins and a dense, rich core. These tannins have softened to reveal classic Bordeaux-esque cigar and cedar flavours. A true Tuscan gem.
Producer
Castello del Terriccio
The estate is owned by the extraordinarily charming Gian Annibale Rossi di Medelana Serafini Ferri, known affectionately as 'Pucci', who was once a talented horseman and breeder. However fate dealt a cruel hand when a serious riding accident left him without use of his legs, confining him to a wheelchair. Unable to pursue his equine passion, Pucci turned his focus to planting vines, with great success.
Region
Tuscany
Arguably the most celebrated of all Italian regions for its sun, delicious food and rich wines. Chianti lies at the heart of this centrally located, picturesque and expansive area. Tuscany is also home to Chianti's more powerful cousin, Brunello di Montalcino, illustrious Super Tuscanblends and spicy, exuberant whites.
