  • Burghound, January 2012, Score: 93-95

This offers up a completely different aromatic profile than that of the Mazis with its extremely cool, restrained and ultra-elegant nose of a broad range of wild red berry fruits, stone, floral notes and spice hints. There is exceptionally good purity and transparency to the intensely mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that evidence ample power on the impeccably well-balanced and linear finish. This is a really lovely effort that embodies that ineffable quality of power without weight. Drink: 2025+

Region

Latricières Chambertin

Latricières-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on white oolite soils, sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Compared to other Grand Cru Gevrey, Latricières-Chambertin is not ultra-powerful and seems to exude a sublime lacy quality.
