    The 2010 En Champs was notably on form at the time of tasting with charming and succulent red and black cherries and sweet dark plums. Velvety yet crunchy. It finishes on lacy notes of cloves, cinnamon and aromatic tinges from its high quality oak barrels. Finishes fresh.

    (from vines planted in 1903). Over the past few years this has become one of the most consistently excellent villages level wines in all of Burgundy and 2010 will only add to that reputation. The nose is quite similar to that of the old vines Gevrey though here it is perhaps ever-so-slightly more elegant as the fruit slides more to the red side of the fruit spectrum. There is superb concentration and phenolic ripeness to the powerful and strongly mineral-inflected medium-bodied plus flavors that terminate in a driving, fresh and vibrant finish that is focused, linear and gorgeously persistent. Exceptional quality for what this is and highly recommended though note that patience is required. 2022+

Gevrey Chambertin

The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
