Goedhuis, December 2011
The fruit for this fine Gevrey Chambertin comes from 8 different parcels of vines around the village and therefore is a wonderful example of the appellation. A deep full-berried palate, supported by fresh appealing supple tannins.

Burghound, January 2012, Score: 88-91
A complex nose features red berry fruit plus herbal and floral notes along with plenty of Gevrey-style earth that continues onto the mineral-inflected, intense and relatively robust flavors. There is good verve to the complex, balanced and solidly persistent finish. A classic Gevrey built to reward medium-term cellaring. 2017+

Solid and fresh and easy. A bit dry on the end. Very solid. Drink 2016-2023

This substantial Gevrey Chambertin domaine is under the guardianship of a collaborative family team: parents Christine and Philippe, and children Caroline and Nicolas. They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Region
Gevrey Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
