Tasting Notes
-
Burghound, January 2012,
Score: 93-95A softly floral nose features notes of rose petals and lavender along with cool red berry fruit liberally laced with wet stone nuances. The taut and muscular broad-scaled and concentrated flavors are precise, intense and explosively long on the focused and stunningly persistent finish that is youthfully austere. This faultlessly well-balanced but very firm effort will require extended cellaring and 20 years is probably what the structure will require to completely resolve.Drink: 2030+

Domaine Dujac

Jacques Seysses bought a small domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis in 1967 called Domaine Graillet and renamed it after himself, Domaine Dujac. Jacques spent several years learning winemaking from the late, great Gerard Potel at Domaine de la Pousse d’Or and he has been a great proponent of including the stems in fermentation. Over the years, Jacques and his wife Rosalind expanded the domaine and today the family has 15.5 hectares including seven grands crus. Today, two of their children, Jeremy and Alec, as well as Jeremy’s wife Diana, have joined the Jacques and Rosalind in the family business which continues to be one of Burgundy’s leading domaines.
Region
Clos de la Roche
The finest and biggest Grand Cru red wine appellation in Burgundy's Morey-St-Denis, on the Côte deNuits, covering 16.9ha. Clos de la Roche's soils are rich in marl which gives more body, depth and ageing potential to its wines than most other vineyards. Wines from Clos de la Roche tend to be powerful and full bodied with black fruit aromas and flavours, developing rich, gamey characters with age.
