Burghound, July 2011,
This is still very primary as only aggressive swirling can liberate the reluctant nose of pear, mango, peach, oak and floral aromas. The big, opulent and ultraintense broad-based flavors also remain extremely backward and tight yet the palate staining finish is hugely persistent. This border-line massive effort will require the better part of a decade to reach its full apogee but should be well worth the wait as the underlying material is most impressive. 2017+.

Le Montrachet is the most famous white Burgundy Grand Cru coming from a single 8 hectare vineyard which overlaps into the communes of Puligny and Chassagne. Even as far back as the 18th century the wines of Le Montrachet had to be reserved a year in advance - a distant precursor to the en primeur system. The south east facing vineyards give the vines maximum exposure to the sun which combined with the limestone soil produces epic results.
