Tasting Notes

  • BURG

    Burghound, January 2010,
    Score: 92-94

A trace of new wood sets off very fresh and elegant red berry fruit aromas cut with a distinct stoniness that give way to rich, refined and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration and impeccable balance. A classic Latricières that displays just a touch of finishing austerity as well as the definite sense of underlying reserve. A great first vintage.Drink: 2018+

Region

Latricières-Chambertin

Latricières-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on white oolite soils, sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Compared to other Grand Cru Gevrey, Latricières-Chambertin is not ultra-powerful and seems to exude a sublime lacy quality.
