Goedhuis, November 2009
Aromatic with alluring notes of roasted coffee on the nose. On the palate, it is notably relaxed with firm, yet velvety tannins. This is a powerhouse of a wine that is quietly confident and has nothing to prove (but it impressed us anyway). Philippe feels that this wine represents the character of the vintage best.

Burghound, January 2010, Score: 92-94
An expressive and elegant mélange of oak trimmed and very spicy red and blue pinot fruit aromas nuanced by hints of violets and the expected pungent Gevrey earth that is also picked up by the rich and particularly full flavors that possess a natural sweetness, which serves to buffer the firm tannins on the wonderfully persistent finish. A lovely and entirely classic Bèze that is built to age. Drink: 2020+.Notes: from a parcel of 1.5 ha of vines planted in 1949.

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Chambertin Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
