Burghound, January 2009,
As it often is, this is the most elegant wine in the range but it is also the most restrained and backward and only substantial swirling liberates the airy, clean, bright and beautifully layered red pinot, violet, spice and mineral-suffused nose from the glass. As 2007s go, this is a big wine with excellent volume to the seductively textured medium full flavors that display a taut muscularity and superb focus on the brooding, refined and quite firmly structured finish. This is very much a work in progress and it's clear that the next 6 months of élevage will continue to see this develop but everything it needs to be a real gem is present. Drink: 2016+.Comments: don't miss!
Burghound, January 2010,
A restrained, airy, clean, bright and beautifully layered nose features red pinot, violets, spice and mineral notes that complement perfectly the seductively textured medium full flavors that display a taut muscularity and superb focus on the refined and firmly structured finish. I particularly like the intensity and drive and this should reward about a decade of patient cellaring. A Musigny of harmony and grace.
Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier
Le Musigny is a red Grand Cru vineyard based in Burgundy’s Chambolle Musigny village in the Côte de Nuits. Le Musigny is situated between the scrubland at the top of the slope and the upper section of Clos de Vougeot on well-draining limestone soil. The wines of Le Musigny are some of the best in Burgundy on a par with those of Romanée Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
