Tasting Notes

Robert Parker, April 2003,
Score: 90An outstanding effort, the 2000 boasts a dense purple color in addition to a terrific nose of sweet black cherries, cassis, raspberry, licorice, and vanilla. The wine is medium to full-bodied, intense, pure, delineated, and remarkably elegant. It should drink well for 10-12 years. A sleeper of the vintage. This 25-acre vineyard, planted in clay and gravelly soils, not totally dissimilar from those of Denis Durantou's renowned vineyard L'Eglise Clinet, is planted with 30-year-old vines consisting of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. The wine is the result of a classic vinification, much like Durantou employs at L'Eglise Clinet. It is undoubtedly a property that needs to be taken seriously. Drink 2003-2015

Clive Coates, June 2001
This is produced by Denis Durantou. Good colour. Quite closed on the nose. Rich and full if a little hot. But very good concentration. Fullish body. Some tannin. Very lovely fresh fruit. Quite a big meaty wine. But the tannins are ripe and there is alot of depth and richness here. Long. Fine. From 2009.

Château les Cruzelles

Denis Durantou's 10 hectare estate is rated as one of the "outstanding" Lalande-de-Pomerol Châteaux, in Robert Parker's Bordeaux guide. The grape varietals grown are 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. Only 2000 cases are made.
Region
Lalande de Pomerol
Lalande de Pomerol is situated to the north-west of the Dordogne River north of Pomerol. Similar to the great Pomerol appellation the wines are Merlot dominated but sold at a fraction of the price. Some great value wines can be found to the south of the Lalande de Pomerol region as only the Barbanne River separates the two appellations.
