After 37 years of aging in Colombia, the rum spent four months in cask after Sauternes wine. Sweet cherries in liqueur, pears, apples, plums. In mouth also a lot of fruit, but dried: fruits and nuts, raisins, dried apricots. Finished with sweet tobacco, a note of cinnamon, tea.
Named after Severa Arango y Ferro who arrived in Colombia in the 18th century to collect taxes for Spain, which earned him the name “Dictador”, the company was founded by one of his direct descendants, Don Julia Arango y Parra, in 1913. Dictador's rums are produced in Cartagena using sugar cane honey rather than molasses, which produces a much higher calibre of rum with a fresher nose, well-integrated alcohol and a naturally lighter colour.
