Combining beauty and elegance,
one of the world’s greatest Blanc de Blancs champagnes

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2007

Comtes de Champagne is the jewel in Taittinger's crown, it is without doubt one of the world’s greatest Blanc de Blancs champagnes, and was a favourite of the great Ian Fleming. It is crafted exclusively from five 'Grand Cru' Chardonnay vineyards in the prestigious Côte des Blancs; it is only ever produced in exceptional vintages and in tiny quantities. Only 35 vintages have been produced since the first cuvée in 1952.

The hallmarks of a great Comtes de Champagne are elegance, complexity and finesse, and the 2007 has these in abundance. The nose is beautifully delicate and very fresh. Notes of citrus, white blossom, golden raisins and fresh biscuits. The palate has a gorgeous vibrancy and youthful elegance; lots of tense energy. As it opens notes of lemons, citrus zest and velvety white peach intermingled with some biscuit spice and creamy salted butter layer your palate. There is a seam of mouth-watering mineral salinity which leaves a bright refreshing finish. In short, this is as exceptional as any top class Grand Cru white Burgundy.

The price of this exquisite champagne comes in at well below the price of its Blanc de Blancs rivals; Cristal 2007 is £700 per 6 bottles and Salon 2007 is £2,160 per 6 bottles. This, combined with stellar quality and knockout scores, the 2007 won Gold at the International Wine Challenge and James Suckling has given it an outstanding 98 points, has meant its popularity has rocketed.

Be sure to snap up a case of this exquisite release.

The Comtes de Champagne 2007 will be ready for delivery in late Summer 2018.

This is a step up from the linear and fresh 2006. It shows subtle depth and power with a dense block of vivid fruit that's highlighted with lemon zest, green apples and hints of white peaches. Just the right amount of praline and nuts on the nose. Fine and tight bead give the Champagne a luxurious mouthfeel. One for now or the cellar. Drink or hold. James Suckling 98 points

This is quite beautiful. There’s lovely concentration of citrus fruit with some subtle hazelnut and toast, as well as good structure and fine acidity. Compact and dense, but at the same time it’s pretty and delicate. There’s a touch of grapefruit and a refined spiciness, as well as riper notes of apricot and peach. But the main theme here is beautifully focused, pure citrus fruit. Just beautiful. Jamie Goode 96 points
