"One of the best Señas yet.” Tim Atkin MW

New Release: Viña Seña 2017

The 2017 has been already been awarded an outstanding 99 points by James Suckling, and Tim Atikin calls it ‘one of the best Señas yet’, continuing its run of excellence. The price of £498 per six pack is really compelling for the strength of this vintage. It completely captivated our team with its beauty, when we tasted with wine maker, Francisco Baettig, on Tuesday.

It is a seriously sophisticated offering. The fruit is aromatic and concentrated, yet so silky it glides across the palate with grace and has an amazing persistence. Despite the warm vintage, it possesses purity and freshness along with sumptuous dark blue fruits. It is polished, intense and woven together in a velvety structure. Comparisons are being made to some of the world's top Cabernet blends, particularly those from Bordeaux, yet this refined, stylish offering also remains true to its Chilean origins with a wonderful richness and warmth. Once tasted it is extremely hard to resist!

Only 5,000 cases of this exceptional wine are made each year. We are delighted to offer a small parcel of this highly prized release along with some incredibly rare impressive large formats.

The aromas of blackberries, cedar, sandalwood and black tea are compelling. Black olives. Rosemary and sage undertones. Full-bodied, rich and powerful Seña with impressive and powerful tannins, yet harmony and balance. Fruit-forward. Lightly chewy. Fresh and energetic wine in a hot year. 99 points, James Suckling

Showing layers of berry fruit, cedarwood, vanilla spice and tannic grip, it’s concentrated yet balanced with impressive freshness and vibrancy and top notes of violets and wild herbs. One of the best Señas yet. 96 points. Tim Atkin MW

Of a bright, garnet red color with beautiful violet sparkles, the 2017 vintage of Seña unwinds in a display of attractive aromas of blueberries, cherries, some cloves, violets and cassis, framed by soft pastry notes, and a delicate final touch of licorice. In the mouth it is juicy, very fresh and lively, with tannins that provide support and structure to a wine with amazing persistence and personality, and that will age gracefully over time. This is perhaps one of the most complete and definitive versions of Seña that we have crafted so far. Francisco Baettig, Winemaker
