"another terrific Langoa Barton"

New Release | Ch Langoa Barton 2017

Château Langoa Barton released this morning at £390 IB. Over the last few vintages they have made some stunning wines. Of the less heralded vintages 2014 was a particular success and the 2017 will be even better.

St Julien was one of our favourite communes at the recent Union des Grands Crus tastings and the 2017 Langoa Barton showed very well amongst its peers. Trying it again at the Château confirmed our positive first impression, as owner Lilian Barton Sartorius shared insights into the growing season. Happily, neither Langoa nor Léoville suffered losses in the vineyard from the late frost.

Langoa Barton encapsulates the classic qualities of St Julien: balance, consistency and great value. It perennially delivers a delicious style of claret which reaches its drinking window a little ahead of its sister château. In 2017 this is definitely a wine for the medium term, with lots of juicy Cabernet fruits, a solid core and full flavours: a serious and successful wine for the vintage.

This is a great wine to have in big bottles. Please email wine@goedhuis.com or call 020 7793 7900 to order large formats.

      Tasting Notes

      Goedhuis, April 2018, Score: 92-94

54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, this is a classical blend for the estate. The sister property to Ch Léoville Barton is another success in 2017. At a moderate 13% abv there is a density to the dark fruit with hints of dark soaked raisins and notes of toasty spice. The tannins are robust but not overpowering. This is another terrific Langoa Barton.
