Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot | 2018 En Primeur Pre-release
We are delighted to launch the 2018 white wines from the Côte de Beaune with the brilliant Puligny Montrachets of Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot.
It reflects the superb quality of the Domaine’s wines that, just under 35 years since Jean-Marc created this prestigious estate, it is now perceived as one of the very finest in Puligny Montrachet. It certainly helped that his grandfather on his mother’s side was Puligny’s preeminent vigneron, Etienne Sauzet, and on his father’s side, a Boillot with significant holdings in Pommard, Volnay and Beaune. Not a bad start when you are creating an estate.
Soon after its creation, Johnny Goedhuis was one of the first British wine merchants to enter the cellar door and we have been working with them ever since! Today, Jean-Marc enjoys his olive groves in the South of France, and the estate is now run by his two extremely capable children, Lydie and Benjamin.
They have an exceptional array of vineyards in Puligny. There is arguably a softer touch to the oak management than in Jean-Marc’s early days, hence the wonderfully precise, pure Puligny fruit that shines in the wines. These 2018s serve as wonderful introduction to and reflection of the quality of the white wines of the Côte de Beaune in 2018. They have an extraordinary sense of terroir this year: bright and energetic, with the appealing honeyed creaminess so true to the appellation. Sensationally delicious for mid-term drinking.
The Boillot's sought after premiers crus sell out every vintage, so don't miss this early opportunity to add a couple of cases to your cellar.
Our main Burgundy 2018 En Primeur campaign will launch on Wednesday 8th January 2020.
