    Goedhuis, March 2021

Former winemaker at the prestigious Meerlust Estate, Chris Williams, runs this small négociant business with friend James Reid. Together they make characterful, brilliantly priced wines from impeccably sourced fruit. Chris has started using terracotta vessels from Extremadura in Spain to add another means of elevage and to coax beautiful flavours from the decomposed granite fruit. The 2020 Grenache Blanc is a delicious, citrusy wine that shows a nose of green apple, pear and white peach. Fantastically fresh and subtly mineral with a delicate creamy texture.

Region

Stellenbosch

An important region in South Africa, named after the beautiful town at its centre, it is the hub of viticultural activity and learning in the country. Only slightly warmer than Bordeaux, this is an ideal climate for grape growing, and produces many impressive Bordeaux blends, as well as Chenin Blancs.
