  An attractive dark ruby/purple color is followed by a tight but sweet nose of cassis fruit, medium body, moderate tannin, good concentration, and a fine finish. Well-balanced, with low acidity and above average extract, this should turn out to be an elegant example of St.-Julien for drinking between 2000-2015.

  Langoa's 1994 was revealing the dark side of the vintage - high tannin, a slight compressed and compact personality, and some dilution in the mid-palate. Although the wine possesses fine color and good spice, it appeared to be missing a few component parts.All of the wines in this segment were tasted between March 19 and March 28 in Bordeaux. Most of the important wines from both the 1994 and 1995 vintages were tasted three separate times during my ten-day stay in Bordeaux. Drink: 2000-2015.

  Dark ruby-colored, with an unexpressive nose, this wine may turn out too austere and severe. It exhibits good power and fruit extraction, but the astringent tannin may cause the fruit to dry out before the wine has shed its bitterness. Don't touch a bottle for 5-7 years ... and keep your fingers crossed.

This château is owned by the Barton family (with Léoville Barton). Serving as a home and a winecellar, Langoa took its name from "gué" an old French word for the small stream that flows at thesouthern end of the property. Unlike the classical style of its stable mate, Langoa tends to be more approachable and flattering at a young age with fleshy fruit and textured tannins.
