    We love Marc Deschamp’s textured, grippy Pouilly Fumé. The Tradition des Loges comes from a plot rich in marl and oyster fossils that is the envy of local producers and that champions the appellation’s unique terroir. This is a dense and complex wine with beautiful citrus and honeysuckle flavours underpinned by a racy acidity and minerality.

For several generations this domaine was the property of the Figeat family, most recently under the supervision of Paul Figeat, the long-time major of Pouilly Sur Loire. Marc Deschamps worked with Paul for over a decade, tending the vineyards and making the wine. Upon Paul's untimely death in 1991, Marc purchased the domaine and renovated the chai. He produces four wines - two vineyard 'crus', Vieilles Vignes and Vinéalis, a cuvée which is gently fermented and aged in oak barrels - all from 9 hectares of vines which are located in the lengendary hamlet of Les Loges. He believes in using viticultural and vinification methods that enable the terroir to shine through. As a result, his wines are wonderfully stylish and balanced between their notable concentration, minerality and purity.

Pouilly Fumé

Perched on the opposite bank of the Loire to Sancerre, the limestone and clay slopes peppered with flint of Pouilly Fume have been home to grape growing and wine production since before the Roman era. Made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc, these often excellent wines are characterised by a note of gunflint and a certain creamy richness in addition to the classic zesty herbacious flavours of the grape variety.
