  Champ Canet always possesses a degree of opulence and richness which is superbly on display here in the honeyed aromas of caramelised oranges. Full and luscious, this is a Puligny of great breadth and structure. A gentle touch of toasted oak provides some additional weight on the finish.

  The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru has a crisp, slightly menthol bouquet that manifests more mineral/flinty aromas with aeration. It comes across more exotic than Boillot's Les Referts. The palate is well balanced with a fresh entry, a fine bead of acidity, subtle tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple developing towards the finish. This is a delicious Champ Canet, one that will be difficult to resist in its youth. Drink 2022-2035

  Attractive lemon and lime with some robust fruit, this has significantly more volume in the mouth. The oak speaks a little. There is clearly more power in every element yet still with a little stony freshness at the finish. It is in a rather closed phase at the moment however but will blossom later.

Jean-Marc and his children Lydie and Benjamin consistently make some of the most appealing and forward drinking wines from their significant holdings across Burgundy. Their range of Puligny Montrachet premiers crus shows impressive individual distinction. Jean-Marc’s family has a long and distinguished history in Burgundy. His grandfather was Etienne Sauzet, from whom he inherited vineyards in the early 1990s. He spent his early career working for the family domaine, Henri Boillot, before making the wine at Domaine Olivier Leflaive. In the 1980s he began making wine from his own vineyards which were significantly expanded with his Sauzet inheritance of an outstanding array of Puligny premier cru sites. The family have exported their uncomplicated but precise winemaking philosophy further south to the Côte Chalonnaise, and more recently, Mâcon.
