Offers | St Baillon Rose 2020

"This is a cracking pair of rosés and if you compare the pricing to the rest of the competition out there they romp home as some of the finest value wines of the year." Matthew Jukes
A summer holiday in Provence is looking increasingly less likely this year but fear not, we are bringing the garigue-strewn hills and crystal-clear waters of the French Riviera to you.
With perfect timing for the much-needed Easter break, we have just taken delivery of the superb Provençal rosés of Ch St Baillon. We are delighted to offer the incredibly quaffable and fantastic value Ch St Baillon and Ch St Baillon Opale in the newly released 2020 vintage.
Ch St Baillon is one of our biggest sellers and a firm Goedhuis favourite. This pretty pale-pink Provençal rosé is fresh, light and utterly delicious. It immediately offers you a huge dose of sunshine, whatever the weather. It is impossible to have just one glass and at under £12 a bottle on your table it is a bargain. It is also available in magnums and double magnums: the perfect size for "meeting outside either in a group of 6 (from any number of households), or in a group of any size from up to two households from 29th March"!!
Matthew Jukes is also a huge fan of the wines: "the 2020 vintage builds on the precision and impact of the 2019 by adding even more gloss to the mid-palate. In spite of the vast number of rosés that appear on our shelves each year, there are only a handful of Provençal properties that I truly rate and Saint Baillon is one. Not only does this wine taste absolutely stunning in 2020 but it also keeps its price keenly competitive and this is great news for us all."
Ch St Baillon Opale is the estate's top of the range rosé and offers a step up in complexity. Cascading with crisp red fruit and beautifully mineral, you can almost feel the warm Mediterranean sun on your face and taste the salty sea air. Only made in small quantities, the grapes are handpicked from the estate's best plots and undergo a very strict selection. It is a seriously good wine and considerably less expensive than many other prestige rosés at £15.50 per bottle all in. Matthew comments, "Opale is itself a thrilling wine with an even more expressive nose, a more ornate palate and a foodier disposition. The lip-smacking acidity on the finish is worthy of particular note."
These are two superb drinkers to see in spring and summer. The St Baillon Rose is ready for immediate delivery - our first parcel of Opale sold out in a few days, but more is already en route and will be available again soon.
