Offers | Domaine Ponsot 2018

2018 is the second vintage under the direction of Rose-Marie Ponsot and her extremely gifted regisseur Alexandre Abel, who oversees the domaine’s vineyard management and wine making.

Domaine Ponsot has built its reputation as one of the later picking domaines in Morey St Denis and has eschewed the fashion of using new oak barrels to age the wines, preferring seasoned casks which act as an “elevage” vessel rather than imparting barrel flavours. As Alexandre says “we want our wines to taste the maximum of the true fruit and terroir flavours that nature provides us with” He describes their 2018s as a powerful vintage set for long cellaring, with an exceptionally healthy crop producing almost as much wine as their outstanding 2017 vintage.

We were as impressed as ever when tasting with Rose-Marie and Alexandre last November. Their 2018s are extremely fine, upholding all the traditional values of the domaine, with superb ageing potential.
