Offers | Château de Beaucastel 2019

We are kicking off our Rhône en primeur campaign this year with the much-anticipated 2019 release, from the one of the region’s biggest names: Château de Beaucastel.

Beaucastel is the flagship estate of the Perrin family and these masters of the Southern Rhône make benchmark Châteauneuf. Followers will be pleased to see a return to healthy volumes after the tiny 2018 vintage and this year we can offer the Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge and Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge.

At last, Grenache vines prospered in 2019 and this variety is much more prominent in the final blend compared to the two previous years, making this the perfect vintage for lovers of the classical Châteauneuf style. 2019 enjoyed a sun-soaked growing season and after tasting last week we can confirm that this is an exceptional wine. It has an elegant nose of red and black fruits layered with cloves, cedar and spice. The palate is fresh, pure and lacy, and supremely promising.

The Coudelet vines lie just beyond the appellation boundaries and also include varieties not authorised in Châteauneuf such as Marsanne and Viognier. Coudelet is one of the finest red Côtes du Rhône available and always hugely popular, conveying much of the typicity of a Châteauneuf in a more accessible format.

The Perrins are delighted with the 2019s, noting that “years ending in 9 regularly mark the memory of winegrowers and this vintage continues this pattern”. A vintage ending in 9 is once again born under a lucky star.

    Goedhuis, October 2020

This Coudoulet could easily convince you that you’re in Châteauneuf du Pape. Scented with fruit compote and summer berries, it is juicy and succulent with a lovely, bright freshness so typical of the Syrah and Grenache that make the blend. The long, savoury finish is true is a nod to the 30% Mourvèdre that makes up the final part of the blend. Drink 2022 – 2030.

    Goedhuis,
    Score: October 2020

This exceptional Châteuneuf du Pape proudly includes all 13 of the varieties permitted by law to be in the blend. A mille-feuille of red and black fruit flavours with hints of mocha and spice, it is very broad in style and boasts delightful composure. Firm, elegant tannins on the finish give further structure to this outstanding cuvée. Superb
