Offer | The legendary Vietti's new releases

"I can’t think of too many estates in Piedmont that have raised the bar higher than Vietti has over the last decade or so." Antonio Galloni

The Vietti family are the grand masters of Barolo. Four generations have been blessed with owning vineyard sites with the highest pedigree and we are delighted to offer their range of 2017 releases. As Antonio Galloni rightly identifies, “The best 2017s are exceptionally polished, vivid and flat-out delicious” and this exquisite set of wines are certainly among the best.

Vietti’s winemaker, Luca Currado, has woven magic into his range of 2017s, deftly crafting them out of a vintage that was challenging due to the climatic conditions. Luca has an intimate knowledge of his enviable terroir, and the water-retaining ability of his old vines was a precious advantage in 2017. The individual character of each vineyard shines through, a feat which has not gone un-noticed by the critics. Their lofty scores and notes beautifully describe the wines.

Highlights include the delicious new white, Timorasso Derthona 2019, which is extremely limited, or the incredible Barolo Castiglione 2017 at £185/6 IB, which always offers brilliant value. It has layers of sumptuous red berry fruits and a wonderful richness. Monica Larner calls it, “one of the most versatile wines to emerge from Italy. 93 points". The Barbaresco Masseria 2017 at £300/6 IB is a fabulous wine with floral notes, generous fruit and spice. Antonio Galloni calls this the “hidden jewel” in the Vietti empire.

There is something for everyone, whether that be for near-term drinking, or the legendary single vineyards for cellaring.
