    Full-bodied with velvety, chewy tannins and an ample palate, the 2006 offers excellent concentration and a pronounced fruit core of dark plum, licorice and spice. A solid structure of pronounced minerality leads to its long, lingering finish.

    Herbaceous, earthy, truffle notes intermixed with sweet cherries, plums, and currants are present in this soft, medium garnet wine, which is surprisingly evolved and best drunk over the next 10-15 years. I like the wine's plushness, and the concentration is certainly very good, but this is on afast evolutionary track. Drink: 2009 - 2024

    Crimson/ruby. Fresh aromatics on the nose. Sweet start, suggestion of tea leaves. Quite compact. Fine tannins which really build on the finish but not much soul. Correct but very introvert for the moment while its stablemate Tertre is showing better at this early stage.

Château Giscours

A diamond in the rough, for many years Château Giscours was an inconsistent performer. In 1995,the estate was sold to Eric Albada Jelgersma, who purchased Château du Tertre two years later. Hisarrival has had a significant impact in terms of quality. As Robert Parker has noted in Bordeaux (2003) his 2001, 2000 and 1999 vintages are "the finest Giscours trilogy to date."

Margaux

Plump, silky and seductive are the words often used to describe wines from Margaux. Because of their style, they tend to be user friendly and more approachable when young. This is in part due to its terroir which is comprised of the thinnest soil as well as the highest proportion of chunky gravel in all of the Médoc. It drains well but also is it more susceptible to vintage variation. Margaux wines tend to have the highest proportions of Merlot within the core of the Médoc further adding to their ample roundness and openness. Margaux is home to the largest number of classified growths including its namesake first growth, Château Margaux, as well as third growths, Palmer and d'Issan.
