Lismore Estate | standard bearers for contemporary Cape winemaking

Famed for her focused and deeply complex wines, pioneering winemaker Samantha O’Keefe of Lismore Estate is behind some of South Africa’s greatest expressions of winemaking skill. Vinous’ Neal Martin isn’t shy in showing his appreciation for the estate, saying “I hold O’Keefe’s wines up as standard bearers for contemporary Cape winemaking, and her latest additions do not disappoint.” Tucked away in the foothills of the remote Riviersonderend mountains, Greyton is home to one of the country’s coolest and most extreme conditions and the region shares climatic similarities with northern Rhône. Here the grapes ripen later than most and, when entrusted to the viticultural expertise of O’Keefe, the resulting wines are full of complexity, elegance, and a precision of fruit.
