Imperial Gran Reserva 2015

The quality coming out of Spain's historic Rioja bodegas is outstanding and prices of these superior releases remain incredibly reasonable. We are delighted to offer one of our favourites: CVNE’s Imperial Rioja Gran Reserva 2015 at £215.00 per 6 IB.

Imperial is one of the great names in Spanish winemaking, only made in the most special vintages and within the walls of its own historic Bodega. This intimate attention to detail has delivered fabulous results in 2015. We tasted yesterday with the CVNE team and think it is irresistible. Deliciously complex red and dark fruits combine with inviting exotic spices. It is poised, smooth and top class, reflecting its prized terroir. While it is drinking well now, it will also age remarkably well.

The CEO of CVNE, Victor Urrutia, thinks this 2015 Gran Reserva is in the same league as the fabled 2010, 2004 and 2001. The press recognise it as such too: it has received its highest score from Vinous’ expert on Rioja, Josh Raynolds (95 points), outscoring any other vintage. These thoughts were echoed by James Suckling who awards it 97 points and says, "It goes on for minutes...One of the best Imperial Gran Reservas in a very long time". We think 2015 is surely the best vintage in Rioja since the fabulous 2010, with the Wine Advocate regarding the vintage as ‘outstanding’,

These stately Gran Reservas offer remarkable value for the quality. This revered region has so much to offer and we recommend picking up some bottles and large formats of this fabulous wine.
