Goedhuis Recommends | July

July sees a raft of exciting new arrivals to our Selection List, including new vintages from old friends and brand-new listings from recent discoveries.
We’ve missed our bright, zesty Muscadet Sur Lie from Domaine Ménard Gaborit so we’re pleased to have it back in stock in a fresh new vintage. At £10 a bottle, the 2020 is fantastic value and perfect with fish. A new wine for us is the 2019 Mâcon Fuissé Les Bruyères Dominique Cornin. This producer was enthusiastically recommended to us by Arnaud Mortet of Domaine Denis Mortet. It’s an incredibly flavourful and balanced white Mâcon for less than £17 a bottle. June also sees the arrival of the 2020 vintage of the much-loved Pinot Bianco Eichorn Manincor, a high altitude, complex and profoundly mineral Pinot Bianco that is crisp, refreshing and exceptionally well made.
The 2020 vintage of Whispering Angel has also landed on our shores. This fragrant, silky, and hugely enjoyable Provencal rosé is delicious as ever and perfect to sip chilled in the sunshine.
On to the reds and the newly arrived 2019 Bourgogne Derrière Sazenay Jean-Pierre Charton is another great choice for summer. It’s less than £15 a bottle and seriously good thanks to its floral perfume, crisp red fruit and mouth-watering acidity. We’re also impressed by the latest Chianti Classico from organic Tuscan producer Riecine. The 2019 is soft as cashmere and there’s a beautiful herbal edge to the vibrant red fruit and plum. Finally, an exciting addition for us is the new second wine from Pomerol’s Ch Certan de May, the 2015 Croix de Certan. Surrounded by such illustrious neighbours as Vieux Chateau Certan and La Fleur Pétrus, it’s no wonder this is good. We love its plush texture and luxurious plum fruit. It’s typically Pomerol.
