En Primeur | Vosne Romanée
The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d’Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is most famous for its Grands Crus. It can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming, opulent and gloriously scented, giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
We’re limiting purchases to 1 or 2 cases per wine due to high demand. Please contact your account manager or wine@goedhuis.com to discuss larger quantities.

Goedhuis, December 2021
The 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts sitting above Echezeaux is a cooler location appreciated for its fresh, energetic style. This wine has retained that classic personality in 2020, with bright, pure loganberry and tayberry and an attractive creamy texture. There is a lovely lift of fruit and some weight and density on the finish. A wine with great ageing potential.

Such a famous 1er Cru wedged between three Grand Cru vineyards, Richebourg, Romanée St Vivant and Echezeaux. Whilst it may not have all the finesse of its famous neighbours, it more than compensates with its power and Grand Cru-like intensity. A superbly structured wine, with an abundance of wild bramble fruits and spice. Great volume with a granular textured finish. Superb persistence on the finish and a long life ahead.

Fruit compote and spice, this has quite a lacquered nose of varnish and cocoa. Plush juicy berry fruits. The tannins are sandy, fine and the wine finishes with a bright line of freshness. Good clarity and all nicely integrated.

More stuffing and weight and also fairly accurate, this is a nice effort, and it is decent value, too.

Sourced from 5 different locations in the village. A lovely selection of mulberry, morello cherry and blackberry. Poised between sweet dark fruits and intensity and structure. Focused, with a mass of firm, strong spiced flavours and granular tannins kept perfectly in check by a lively freshness on the finish.

Neal Martin, December 2021, Score: 87-89
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village has a slight smudged bouquet, red plum and cassis fruit. The palate is well balanced, the one-third whole bunch lending freshness, though I find its Nuits Saint-Georges counterpart has a touch more precision and charm.

Burghound, April 2022, Score: 89-92
This isn't quite as aromatically fresh as the Chambolle but there are plenty of both spice and floral nuances to render the layered combination of red and dark currant quite attractive. The utterly delicious and generously proportioned medium weight flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract on the very solidly complex and persistent finale. This firm effort is already very good and if it develops more depth with time in bottle, it could be outstanding. Outstanding. Top value. Drink 2028+

From five plots, Jacquines, Rivière, Genavrières, Communes, Maizières Basses. A little lighter in crimson purple and showing a touch of oak now. Quite powerful, not quite so harmonious but note that this has been tasted directly after the sublime Nuits-St-Georges Aux Boudots. Actually, this is a fine and nicely nuanced Vosne-Romanée. 4/5 stars. 93 - 95 points.

2020 Vosne Romanée Jean Grivot
£360.00 In Bond £448.07 Inc VAT-
Goedhuis, December 2021
The Grivot family own 2.7 hectares extending over nine lieux-dits, which combine to produce an archetypal village Vosne Romanée. A savoury style, with dark toffee, blueberry and olive scents. Full and concentrated, with very well integrated alcohol, a sweet line of vanilla oak and mouth-watering finish.

Neal Martin, December 2021, Score: 86-88
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village is very well defined on the nose, the 30% new oak nicely integrated, redcurrant, cranberry and wild strawberry notes emerging in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a little toastiness on the entry, dark berry fruit with a touch of cedar towards the Morey-like finish. Fine, but it will need 2-3 years in bottle. Drink 2025 - 2035

Burghound, January 2022, Score: 89-92
Here the nose is firmly reduced today though there is good freshness and verve to the intense, sleek and beautifully defined medium weight flavors that possess very fine concentration that helps to buffer the moderately firm but fine tannic spine supporting the balanced and impressively persistent finish. This too is a very good wine in the context of its level. Drink 2027+

Jasper Morris MW, January 2022, Score: 89-92
The typical super dense purple colour of the vintage. A little bit of cooked cherry. Tough tannins behind, very good acidity, this is a bit of a firm beast, fortunately with good acidity as well. Very long concentrated dark fruit at the finish. Chalky tannins come from the white soil of Aux Raviolles, I am told.
