The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l’Arlot, Les Pruliers and Aux Murgers.
"Nuits Saint-Georges excels in 2019 and provides rich pickings for those prepared to spend but are not millionaires, particularly in the north of the appellation where Premier Crus such as Aux Murgers and Les Boudots borrow Vosne-Romanée’s floral attributes and silky textures." Neal Martin

Aux Bousselots is the first Premier Cru vineyard you encounter as you leave the town heading towards Vosne Romanée. It has a reputation for making a very gracious style with a natural charm. This is a fine cuvée with its deep dark cassis scent. It has a mass of energy, direct and beautifully pure. The fruit is so appealing and carried by a gentle tannic core. The finish is uplifting and fresh. Lovely.

One of the village’s most northerly appellations, on the high slopes adjoining Vosne Romanée. It is however typically representative of Nuits. Smoky dark black fruit aromas. This is plump and full, with a touch of Vosne sophistication. An effortless wine which will give pleasure from an early age.

Score: 89-91The 2019 Nuits Saints-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru has a soft, supple bouquet, the 100% destemming lending freshness and sensuality, and a little brine emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, touches of blood orange and orange peel lacing the dark berry and spicy notes toward the finish. Give this 3–5 years in bottle. Drink 2023 - 2035

Score: 90-92Spicy aromas of dark raspberry, cherry and earth give way to impressively voluminous yet sleek middle weight flavors that display lovely delineation on the austere finish. This possesses good if not stunning length as it eventually falls off due to the fact that the tannins become a bit angular. With that said, I suspect that the overall sense of harmony will improve as the tannins resolve. Drink 2031+

Score: 92-94Aromas of cassis, plums, orange rind and spicy new oak preface Faiveley's 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes, a medium to full-bodied, deep and lively wine with a concentrated core of fruit, framed by powdery tannins. Concluding with a long, mineral finish, it's another fine bottling from this cool, high-altitude and northeast-exposed site.

Goedhuis, December 2020
A very spectacular wine from this outstanding vineyard on the boundary of Vosne Romanée abutting the Malconsorts vineyard and a favourite of Nicolas’. Ripe summer berry aromas, with warmth and depth. A very comforting style with abundant rich fruit. It has a hint of masculine tightness on the finish, which will ensure a very long life ahead of it.

Goedhuis, December 2020
A very representative example of the appellation of Nuits St Georges, with the fruit coming from two different parcels south of Nuits in Prémeaux, and the final third coming from the north near Vosne Romanée. Shining purple colour, this concentrates on dark Morello cherry and wild forest fruits with a touch of mocha. A wine with excellent linear tension. Pure, bright and energetic on the finish. Extremely rewarding.

Score: 92-94+A mixture of domaine and purchased grapes that are vinified together, Faiveley's 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges wafts from the glass with notes of sweet berries, plums, espresso roast, dark chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and gourmand, it's sumptuous and charming, with lively acids and a ripe, enveloping core of fruit.
