En Primeur | Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot
Bearing the name of founder Jean-Marc, this domaine is now managed by his daughter Lydie and husband François. This outstanding estate owes its origin to an inheritance from Jean-Marc’s grandfather, Etienne Sauzet. Jean-Marc learnt his trade as the Sauzet winemaker before setting up his own 11-hectare domaine with some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. More recently they have purchased a further 10 hectares in the Mâconnais. Their vinification process is designed to express the purity of Puligny fruit: a short cold settling of 24 hours follows pressing, followed by 11 months élevage with a weekly bâtonnage before bottling.

Honeyed, lacelike and harmonious, everything a classic Puligny Montrachet should be. This is a combination of graceful charm and sparkling energy. With flavours of mandarin and jasmine, this is redolent of the English summer. A beautifully approachable wine in an early drinking style.

Superb and ultra-refined, this is a stand-out village Puligny with delicious, lip-smacking fruit countered by nervy acidity and freshness. While this threatens to be a forward-drinker, there is a lot of fruit at the back of the palate which has not yet been allowed to reveal itself and so even though this wine looks terrific already there is more to come!

Very heavy bottles!! Winning, seductive nose with ripe fruit and just the hint of the savour of good-quality oak. Very open and accessible crowd-pleaser. Just what most people want from a white burgundy. Good Value. Drink 2022 – 2027

Pale lemon and lime. The bouquet is immediately present, some fresh herbs as much as flowers, fresh apple too, this is quite austere up front, but with much more weight behind waiting to emerge. This is looking backward at the moment, but I expect it to blossom in the bottle.
