En Primeur | Benjamin Leroux
Ben Leroux created his own label in 2013, comprising an 8 hectare domaine and around 20 hectares of purchased grapes from some of the most exciting appellations in the Cote d’Or. His pedigree is of the highest order; following internships at some of the greatest estates around the world, he was responsible for the famous Pommard estate, Comte Armand, for 15 years, overseeing a roll call of exceptional vintages. For the negoce wines his policy is to buy grapes rather than juice or wine and insists on having a hand in the vineyards, so that the fruit meets his exacting standards. He sits at the very top of the group of young stellar winemakers changing the face of négociant wines in Burgundy.

£240.00 In Bond-
Goedhuis, January 2024
Though found within the more recognised 1er Cru of La Dominode, Ben prefers to sell this Savigny under its lieu die ‘Jarrons’. Wild, gamey, and full of rich bramble fruit flavours, this wine expresses the warming characteristics of the summer seasons, whilst still possessing a rewarding freshness on the finish.
2022 Pommard Benjamin Leroux
£300.00 In Bond-
Goedhuis, January 2024
A classic Pommard, this is a blend of three different locations: the naturally warm site of Les Cras, the slightly cooler Vaumuriens, and the highly prized village location of Noisins. Using 50% whole bunch, this is a pure and direct style of wine, combining fresh red cherry aromas with tannic tension and great clarity of fruit.
2022 Vougeot Clos du Village Benjamin Leroux
£324.00 In Bond £408.04 Inc VAT (£68.00 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
This is such a lovely lieu-dit on the border of Chambolle Musigny. There are just 3 hectares of village wine in Vougeot, of which Clos du Village is one, sitting next door to Clos de Vougeot and below Chambolle Les Amoureuses. We are very thankful to have an exclusivity on this cuvée. Light violet colour, an ample and charming style, Morello cherry and cocoa powder. An easy elegance, lacy tanning and very pure finish.
2022 Chambolle Musigny Benjamin Leroux
£456.00 In Bond-
Goedhuis, December 2023
After the frosts of 2021, this wine has reverted to its normal origins, combining grapes from the village’s highest vineyard, Les Veroilles, with those of the lower vineyards of Les Athets. The two marry perfectly with clear red fruits, glacé cherry and strawberry. The lower vineyards are reflected in sweet, succulent nature of the wine, whilst the cooler higher slopes give some grippy tension and mouth-watering lift.
2022 Vosne Romanée Benjamin Leroux
£456.00 In Bond-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Sourced from five different locations in the village. Deep dark Morello cherry colour, flavours of bilberry and olallieberry, a bright wine with resonance and crystalline clarity. The 30% whole bunch gives a hint of chewy structure and a long lasting textural finish.
2022 Volnay 1er Cru Les Mitans Benjamin Leroux
£456.00 In Bond-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Mitans derives from the old French word for middle or centre, aptly for this cru which lies directly in the heart of the appellation, at the foot of the slope just beneath the village. The soil here is fine clay which preserved maximum moisture for the vines in the drier summer periods this year. The result is a relaxed wine, with Black Forest fruits. The tannins are broad and muscular, and the finish is creamy and delicious.

Neal Martin, January 2024, Score: 89-91
The 2022 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru is quite reticent on the nose at first, though well-defined, slightly more earthy than the Village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, mulberry, raspberry, marmalade and a touch of Chinese 5-spice towards its fleshy finish. Drink over the next decade. Drinking Window: 89-91.
2022 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Benjamin Leroux
£585.00 In Bond2022 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots Benjamin Leroux
£675.00 In Bond-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Aux Boudots is the most northerly Premier Cru in Nuits St Georges, neighbouring Vosne Romanée’s Aux Malconsorts, making it a prized source of high-class fruit. The initial impression is of classy red fruit purity, reminiscent of Vosne Romanée. In contrast, the palate is more typical of Nuits’ power and muscle, with chewy black fruit and a multitude of dark flavours, with spice and coffee bean on the finish.

Neal Martin, January 2024, Score: 91-93
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru has pleasing transparency on the nose, more tertiary in character, with good mineralité. The palate is well-balanced, the 50% whole bunches very well integrated, fanning out beautifully on the finish with a dash of white pepper and bay leaf. Excellent. Drinking Window: 2026-2046.

The 2022 Clos Vougeot Les Petits Maupertui Grand Cru has a very attractive bouquet with pure wild strawberry and raspberry fruit and impressive mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, lovely symmetry and impressive persistence. Excellent.
