Goedhuis, December 2011
Neighbouring Le Chambertin, Clos de Bèze is truly a great Grand Cru vineyard. This beautiful wine is full of flamboyant dark summer fruit flavours; it is a full and rich wine with excellent restrained power. A wine of real complexity and the wild dark berry fruits on the finish provide an added nuance of complexity.

Burghound, January 2012, Score: 93-95
(from a parcel of 1.5 ha of vines planted in 1949). A spicy, ripe, elegant and admirably pure nose offers up notes of anise, sandalwood and clove that add breadth to the floral, earth and stone-suffused aromas. There is the same superb breadth to the rich, intense and tension-filled full-bodied flavors that possess excellent power and drive on the seductively textured, muscular and classy finish. As good as the prior grands crus are, there is another dimension present here. 2025+

Jancis Robinson, January 2012, Score: 17.5
Bright cherry red. Big and blustering. Chock full of fruit. Embryonic but it should be pretty exciting eventually. Drink 2017-2030

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Chambertin Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
