Tasting Notes
-
Burghound, June 2019,
Score: 91-94Once again there is a hint of forest floor to the fresh and intensely spicy, floral, wild dark berry aromas that are trimmed in moderate wood influence. There is fine richness and excellent power to the focused, caressing and energetic flavors that deliver an impressively long finish that is shaped by very firm but fine tannins. This will also need plenty of time to arrive at its apogee.

Wine Advocate, January 2019,
Score: 93-95One of the finest wines in the Jadot portfolio, the 2017 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) unfurls in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, menthol, dark chocolate, blood orange and grilled meats. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with superb depth and dimension, succulent acids and notable concentration, its tannins entirely cloaked in fruit. While this is a comparatively supple, giving rendition of this cuvée, it will nevertheless demand patience.

Maison Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859 by Louis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot has always been situated in the centre of Beaune in the heart of the Burgundy vineyards. Managed by three generations of the Jadot family and then by the Gagey family assisted by Jacques Lardière in the cellar, Jadot is now directed by Pierre Henry Gagey, who has introduced a new wine making team, Frédéric Barnier and Guillaume Large. Since careful ageing in wooden barrels is so very important for the balance, aromas and the ageing potential of a great wine, in 1996, Louis Jadot entered into partnership with a firm of coopers, forming Cadus Cooperage, established in Ladoix Serrigny. This allows them to control their wood sourcing and the barrel production. Maison Louis Jadot now controls 105 hectares in Burgundy with more than 70 hectares in the Côte d'Or, exclusively in Premier and Grand Cru. They produce both negociant wines under the Maison Louis Jadot label and a number of Domaines: Gagey, Duc de Magenta, Louis Jadot and Héritiers de Louis Jadot.

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
