Goedhuis, December 2019
Brilliant deep purple colour, the 2018 has striking savoury wild hedgerow fruit flavours. This is quite a substantial Beaune wine, with grip and a tight cherry stone core. Plenty of power and depth, the 2018 will age very well.

Burghound, April 2020,
Score: 91This too is attractively fresh with its nicely layered mix of red and dark raspberry, earth, spice and soft floral hints. The supple, plump and seductively textured medium weight flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also buffers the firm tannic spine shaping the firm, dusty and serious finish. This fine Beaune will definitely need a few years of cellaring to soften the structure and render it more pliant. Outstanding. Drink 2028+

Jasper Morris MW, January 2020,
Score: 91-93The Rapet plot is near the rugby ground, so more muscle in the wines than those at the northern end, I am informed. Lovely deep mid purple and with class on the nose. Often good acidity here and there is indeed in 2018 which makes this the best of his Beaunes because it has the depth of fruit balanced by a long fresh finish.

Domaine Rapet Père et Fils

Domaine Rapet Pere et Fils can trace its history back as far as 1765. The Estate comprises 18 hectares of vines in the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses, Savigny les Beaune, Aloxe Corton and Beaune. Located between Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, the Pernand Vergelesses vineyard, tucked away in the green surroundings of a quiet valley, begins at the foot of Corton hill. It is the only vineyard to offer the whole range of vintages, in both white and red wines. Ageing of both red and white wines occurs in oak barrels (30% new for white and 20% new for red). All winery processes are undertaken to minimise the handling of the grapes.
Region
Beaune
The viticultural capital of Burgundy, Beaune was the headquarters to the Duchy in the 13th century and is now home to many winemakers and négociants. The appellation of Beaune includes both reds and white wines, though the quantity of red is significantly greater. The soils are predominantly sandier than either those to the north in Aloxe Corton or those to the south in Volnay or Pommard, producing wines that are supple and early drinking in nature. Similar to other surrounding Côte de Beaune appellations, there are no grand crus, but it does offer 42 premier cru sites, some of which are exceptional. These include Les Grèves, Les Teurons and Les Vignes Franches.
