    The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is a dark, sensual beauty. Deeply spiced and balsamic, with tremendous textural richness, the Pora is utterly beguiling. I can't remember a Pora with this much depth, textural resonance and brooding intensity. The 2014 needs at least a few years to be at its best, but it is superb even in the early going. I won't be surprised if the 2014 turns out to be better than this note suggests. 2024 - 2044

Since 1958, the Produttori has been the reference point for classic, beautifully made, exemplary Barbaresco. It is not only one of the best and most consistent Barbaresco producers, but also one of the best cooperative cellars in Italy, offering unbeatable quality-price ratio.

Region

Barbaresco

Situated due northeast of Barolo, Barbaresco's soils are predominantly calcareous marls similar tothe vineyards of La Morra. Barbarescos tend to be lighter and more delicate in style with tannins that are often more textured than its Barolo counterparts. Slightly lower in altitude than Barolo, its Nebbiolo tends to ripen earlier creating some possible vintage variations between the two neighbouring areas. The wines are also released a year earlier.
