A Summer Hat Trick | Crisp unoaked Chardonnay, Provencal Rose & Kiwi Pinot Noir

We wanted to highlight this absolutely electric newly landed Chardonnay, and an epic rose and red to make a perfect summer hat trick. Matthew Jukes has just given the Begude a rave review: calling it "one of the finest value chardonnays in the UK today", and awarding a stonking 17.5 points.

Light rose petal pink colour. Lovely aromatics of fresh cherry, jasmine and honeysuckle. Delicious clarity of fruit, bright and vibrant, with an appealing sense of structure on the finish. Fresh and graceful.

  • Matthew Jukes, August 2022

The 2021s are a little more edgy and angular than the slightly richer 2020s, and I like this stance on the palate. Saint Baillon’s ’21 is a touch greener and livelier than usual, and while the trademark melon and pomegranate juice hints are present, there are some invigorating, tangy, citrus moments, too. This is an immensely classy wine, and the value is sensational. Served blind, this could be twice the price given its grace and balance!
