Born and raised in the Pays de la Loire, Matthieu developed a passion for wine thanks to his father and grandfather who passed their love onto him.
Matthieu spent all his summer holidays in the region of the Lot, not far from Cahors, at the summer family home. Foie Gras, Confit de Canard, Cabecou (a local goat cheese) and Cahors wines are fond memories of food and wine enjoyed there. Matthieu’s grandfather was from Alsace, so Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Blanc were good friends of the table whenever he visited.
He started his career as a chef but quickly became interested in the beverage side of the catering industry. After his studies in Angers, he moved in London in 1996 in order to develop his skills. Matthieu became a Bar and Restaurant manager in various venues in London, in which he developed a taste for wine. He joined Goedhuis & Co early in 2011 where he has developed his wine knowledge ever since.
Besides the obvious passion for wine, Matthieu also has a love of Electronic music and plays DJ sets weekly in London. He is a keen cyclist, enjoys sailing, and is a great fan of the seaside. Matthieu is a proud father of his little girl, Luna.
