A delectable Italian duo: Barolo Giacomo Fenocchio & Soave Tamellini.
The Soave has been a longstanding favourite on the list for many years, and the Fenocchio edged out some stiff competition in our blind tasting selections to fill the Barolo spot on our list. Both are drinking wonderfully now.
We are offering 10% off both wines for the next week (offer ends Thursday 2nd November).
Soave Tamellini 2016
£65.00/6 bottles inc VAT
£10.83/bottle inc VAT
(List price £72.00/6 bts inc VAT)
Although the estate was only created in 1998, Gaetano and Pio Francesco Tamellini have built a reputation as producers of outstanding, authentic estate-bottled Soave. With fresh stone fruit and citrus aromas, this 2016 is an easy and lively style of the classic Italian white from the Veneto. Uncomplicated, and with a good ripe acidity, it is very easy to enjoy.
Barolo Giacomo Fenocchio 2012
£170.00/6 bottles inc VAT
£28.33/bottle inc VAT
(List price £188.00/6 bts inc VAT)
In last year’s search for a reliable Barolo we were enthralled by the elegance of this estate’s wines. Made from 100% Nebbiolo in Italy’s famous northwest region of Piedmont, this youthful wine is already accessible, with sweet red fruit notes of cranberry and redcurrants, and Barolo’s classic balsamic lift. The palate has a savoury tension, with abundant tannins tangled up in fresh acidity.
