Ch Lagrange 2016 | £420 per 12 IB | “a great Lagrange” 94-96 points Neal Martin

May 31st 2017

2016 is a hugely successful vintage for Chateau Lagrange. Released this morning at £420 per 12 IB, this looks a smart buy. Owned by Japanese spirits giant Suntory, Lagrange is the largest single vineyard among the classified estates of the Médoc with 118 hectares under vine.  The precision and attention to detail applied in vineyard and cellar have reaped major rewards.

Reserve de la Comtesse 2016 | £355 per 12 IB | “Don’t miss it.” 90-93, AG

There’s been a lot of talk about the 2016 Pichon Lalande being a contender for wine of the vintage, but its second wine was also a real treat this year. The Reserve de la Comtesse (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot & 4% Cabernet Franc) really has a lot of the grace and flair of the Grand Vin – a wonderful balance between elegance and finesse with the powerful Pauillac drive underneath.
